There was a post about impotency in marriage. It got me thinking. Contraception interferes with the natural procreation process. Therefore use of Viagra other brands available also interferes with the natural process. Where does the Church stand on this? Again the natural process is being altered.
I don't know about you, but I'm sick and tired of seeing ads for Viagra and its "brother" medicines everywhere you look. You can't get away from it, really. It's on the television, in the sports stadiums, and in tons of "spam" e-mails. There's even a Viagra clock. And the latest "devil" ad campaign for Viagra - showing supposedly sex-hungry men growing devil's horns - is nothing short of appalling.
Catholic theology of sexuality , like Catholic theology in general, is drawn from natural law , [1] canonical scripture , divine revelation , and sacred tradition , as interpreted authoritatively by the magisterium of the Catholic Church. Sexual morality evaluates sexual behavior according to standards laid out by Catholic moral theology , and often provides general principles by which Catholics are able to evaluate whether specific actions meet these standards. The Catholic Church teaches that human life and human sexuality are inseparable. Because Catholics believe God created human beings in his own image and likeness and that he found everything he created to be "very good," [2] the Catholic Church teaches that human body and sex must likewise be good.
A prominent politician was recently pressed by reporters to comment on the "unfair situation" of health insurers reimbursing for Viagra but not for birth control. The politician declined to reply, and the ensuing firestorm led to accusations of gender bias and even misogyny on his part. Other commentators took the argument and ran with it: Why should men be able to get drugs so they can have sex, but women cannot be given the same access to needed drugs so they can have sex safely and without the risk of becoming pregnant?
